Up for auction is a copy of Maria Callas' 1965 3 LP box set, "Carmen," on Angel Records. Angel Records Cat.# SCLX-3650. This is an original copy from 1965, not a reissue. This item contains all 3 original program booklets entitled: 1) The Merimee Carmen, 2) The Bizet Carmen, & 3) The Callas Carmen. All booklets have die-cut program covers with striking color. The Callas program booklet has many fabulous photos from the production!
An extremely rare, out-of-print, and important addition to any serious Callas fan's collection. It's especially rare to find one in such great condition and with the program booklets!
Box is in VG+ condition. The box is very much intact. It opens and closes without issue. There is some splitting on the left seam of the box but it is not extreme and should hold up well if treated responsibly. The inner sleeve for holding the booklets is fully intact. There is a bit of scratching on box and a rubbed marking or two. The gold foil design and image of Callas on front of box are still vivid and striking!
Vinyl is NM condition. Glossy, flawless looking platters! A very well cared for set that looks unplayed to me. All 3 LPs are housed in the original Angel sleeves!
