  • · RAREST WARHOL ART COVER MAGRIGAL’S MAGIC KEY TO SPANISH

    · COVER IS VG++ -WITH NO SEAMS SPLITS- + SLIGHT YELLOWING DUE TO AGE

  • AND LIGHT INDENTIONS FROM THE LP BEING IN THE COVER -SEE PHOTO

    · RECORD IS VG+ TO VG++ TO W/ MANY LIGHT SURFACE SCUFFS- MONO

    ·

NOT Referenced in Andy Warhol, The Record Covers 1949-1987,
catalogue raisonné, by Paul Maréchal, 1953. ONLY VOLUME 1 IS REFERENCED AS #6

    ·
THIS INFO IS TAKEN FROM THAT BOOK-
“THE RECORD FOR THIS METHOD FOR LEARNING SPANISH WAS RELEASED AS A

  • SUPPLEMENT TO THE FAMOUS 1953 BOOK BY MARGARITA MADIGAL.
THE DUST OVER INFORMS READERS OF THE MANY RECORDS AVAILALE IN THE SUPPLEMENTARY

  • AUDIO COLLECTION. AS FOR THE RECORDS, VERY FEW COPIES WERE SOLD, AND THEY RARELY

  • RESURFACE ON THE MARKET THESE DAYS. “

NOW YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE RECORD AND SEE THE ILLUSTRATIONS!!

Book in good condition. 496 clean pages with SOME Writings IN BLUE PEN AND markings.

  • Dustjacket in poor condition with several tears and missing small pieces.

    Dimensions: 8.5" x 6" x 1.5"

  • Volume 2 -WHICH I BELIEVE THAT ONLY 2 VOLUMES WERE MADE AS THE SPANISH LESSONS FOR THIS

  • LP BEGINS WITH LESSON 11 ON P.77 AND CONTINUES TO P.317 OR LESSION 36, however the SPANISH

  • book ends with Lesson 45 or P.450, it is unlikely that a 3rd lp WAS MADE AS THIS LP SPANS OVER

  • 240 PAGES AS THERE IS ONLY 5 LESSONS LEFT, HOWEVER IF THE RECORDS COMPLETE THE BOOK

  • THEN THERE ARE 3 LPS, HOWEVER, ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

    RECORD 1 HAS LESSONS 1-10

    RECORD 2 HAS LESSONS 11-36

For true fans of Andy Warhol, this is a wonderful piece of historical memorabilia.

  • This is a Spanish textbook - for classrooms - that is one of the first of several books

  • illustrated by Andrew Warhol - before he became Andy Warhol.

For offer here is the original hardcover from the early Fifties. Madrigal's has since

  • been re-issued in the Eighties, following Warhol's death, but those are not the

  • original book. This is.

The cover illustration - 3 Mexican hats - is by Warhol, and inside there are whimsical

  • illustrations by Warhol at the outset of each new lesson.

    .

  • And fortunately, the book is NOT ex-library. But the real reason for getting this book

  • is its historical import. The illustrations by Warhol are all there, intact, on the cover,

  • on the title page, and opening each chapter. Warhol's early drawings are subtle, small and

  • whimsical - a tomato, a flower, hats, "un programa de television", "un telefono" nothing

  • though that would give any indication of the outsized international superstar Andy Warhol

  • would later become.

Unless you buy a vinyl record that  is SEALED, or in NEAR-MINT condition, there will always be some type of surface sounds, or background noise, known as pops and crackling.

If the LP has been played a couple of times, it can never be perfect. This is especially noticeable in classical records, which have quiet passages.

I know there is software that you can use to clean up your records to record on CDs, if you so choose.

You are buying vinyl LPs because they sound better than CDs, however the pops and crackling come with an LP.

Ratings and Definitions of LP Conditions in order to avoid confusion:

ALL TAS RECORDS ARE LISTENED TO ON MY EQUIPMENT WHICH IS A HIGH END TECHNICS TURNTABLE & CARTRIDGE WITH A SANSUI  AMP. I DO TRY TO LISTEN TO SECTIONS OF ALL RECORDS, BUT SOMETIMES THEY ARE VISUALLY GRADED IF THEY LOOK REALLY CLEAN.

Mint (M). Absolutely perfect in every way. Never been played or still sealed. I use this rating very sparingly – Cover must be in the shrink wrap for this grade. Some promo copies can get this grade since they originally were never in shrink wrap.

Near Mint (NM). LP cover, inserts, e.g., lyrics sleeves, posters, promo cards, have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable flaws. LP shows hardly any signs that it ever has been played or it has been treated with great respect, cover can be in shrink wrap unless it is a promo copy.

Very Good Plus Plus (VG++). This LP may show some signs that it was played a few times or many times but the LP was treated with respect. LP surface may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches/hairlines that do not affect the overall listening experience. The cover may have some ring/spine wear and discoloration. Inner sleeves/booklets may have some slight wear. The LP cover may have also a cut-out hole, corner indentation not disturbing the overall condition of the LP itself. Can have a sticker or label attached if it is a promo copy. There will be pops and crackling in the quiet sections.

Very Good Plus(VG+). Conditions as described in VG++ may be found in a more pronounced way on LP for this rating. Surface noise may be evident upon playing, especially in soft and other passages,  but not overpowering the music. Wear may be noticeable. Scratches may affect the sound in places. The cover and the labels may show some writing, or have stickers or residue attached.

Very Good (VG). LP in Very Good condition will have surface noise and scratches and it might have one skip, which will be noted in the description. The cover or sleeve may have seam splits, (however archival transparent tape will be used to fix the seam).

Good (G). I WILL NOT SELL A RECORD IN THIS CONDITION.

Also, there will be grading which is in between like VG to VG+ as cover might be one grade and record another.
