Morecombe and Wise

Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise were an English comic double act, working in variety, radio, film and most successfully in television. Their partnership lasted from 1941 until Morecambe's death in 1984. They have been described as "the most illustrious, and the best-loved, double-act that Britain has ever produced". In a list of the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes drawn up by the British Film Institute in 2000, voted for by industry professionals, The Morecambe and Wise Show was placed 14th. In September 2006, they were voted by the general public as number 2 in a poll of TV's 50 Greatest Stars. Their early career was the subject of the 2011 television biopic Eric and Ernie, and their 1970s career was the subject of the television biopic Eric, Ernie and Me in 2017.  In 1976, Morecambe and Wise were both awarded the OBE. In 1999, they were posthumously awarded the BAFTA Fellowship. In 2013, they were honoured with a blue plaque at Teddington Studios, where their last four series of The Morecambe and Wise Show were recorded.

About BBC Transcription Services.

BBC Transcription Services discs were only made available to overseas radio stations for broadcast purposes and were not made available for sale to the general public. However, in the early 90s many international BBC libraries sold their stock to the public.

Typically BBC Transcription Services pressed 100 copies of each disc only with instructions to the overseas radio network to destroy the disc at the end of the licence period.

At BresCollect our aim is to give honest grading of all our records. Due to the amount of stock we have to list though we mostly visually grade our vinyl. We will therefore not give a grade higher than VG+ to any record we have not listened to…even if it looks perfect! All our discs are cleaned before sending out.

Any disk that is graded Ex or higher will have been played before grading.

We use the following criteria for grading:

Mint (M) - The record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

Excellent (Ex) - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good + (VG+) - The record has obviously been played but has only a few light surface marks. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable

Very Good (VG) - The record has obviously been played many times and has some visible surface marks. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable

Good (G) – The record has visible mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc

Postage is standard UK 2nd class small parcel at a cost of £3.50. Additional records are only charged at £1.00 extra for each ordered. All our vinyl records are posted in Lil packaging stiff 12″ LP record mailer....a seriously strong, secure & professional package. Records are removed from their cover before posting to avoid seam splits to the outer sleeve.

International orders will be posted through eBAY global shipping programme

Your order will be dispatched within 1 working day of receiving payment (Monday-Friday) and you should expect to receive it one or two days after dispatch (for orders sent RM 2nd Class).
