This is the original UK LP by The MOODY BLUES, ON THRESHOLD OF A DREAM, SUPER RARE MONO on the DERAM label DML 1035 The album comes complete with it's original UK 'Mono' red inner sleeve and very 1st issue outside laminated gatefold cover with stapled in booklet Matrix numbers are, Side 1:- ARL-8827-2W, Side 2:- ARL-8828-2W Stamper codes are, Side 1:- 1 / U, Side 2:- 1 / K SUPER LOW STAMPERS ! By 1969 the Stereo format was in full flow and the most popular and widely sold. The Mono format had almost disappeared, in comparison hardly any , maybe 10 Mono Pressings to every hundred Stereo Pressing were being pressed as their were was a huge demand for Stereo records, so naturally record companies pressed the vast majority of their records in the Stereo format, thus making this DECCA Pressed 'DERAM' label Mono Press record a very very scarce commodity and now making it a rare and highly collectable record from this period I can't be any more excited to hear this masterpiece in Mono !!. Sounds so much better in Mono, the swirling wind sound effects are sublime, the spoken word sections sound crisp and very eerie!, an effect possibly not possible with a Stereo polished sound. Also at the very end of the record, their is a 'locked groove' repetitive swirling wind reprise 'track', completing the albums sound and mood', fantastic! The original 1969 UK Mono Garrod Lofthouse 1st issue cover with 'patents pending' credits is in EX condition. The cover maintains all it's beautiful rich bright vibrant colour, thickly laminated with glossy laminate to the outside, very nice!. Inside is clean. The 14 page stapled booklet has no stains, no unwanted writing, no rips, no tears, staples are solid. The spine is fully intact and partially readable Their are no seam splits and no unwanted writing. NICE EXAMPLE! The vinyl is in EX condition, I have played both sides (very very carefully!) and the vinyl plays EX+, only some light crackle to be heard at the intro and the last track, which doesn't spoil the listening enjoyment at all. The vinyl plays with stunning crisp clear clarity!, amazing clean crisp powerful MONO sound, crystal clear clarity, amazing MONO, TOP TOP quality pressing!
The tan and white Mono DERAM label's are in EX+++ condition, lovely and clean, maintaining all their original bright fresh colour, their is no unwanted writing, the centre spindle hole shows minimal wear
The vinyl is housed in its original 1969 1st issue UK polythene lined inner red bordered inner sleeve and in EX condition, no seam splits, no unwanted writing, clean, slightly faded
