LP : Monty Alexander - Rass

Original German pressing from 1974 on MPS records, 21 223187-3, red label, BASF distribution (= first pressing). Killer jazz-funk with a laid-back jamaican feel, there are some breaks, too. On every track there's spacy Fender Rhodes-work by Monty Alexander plus dope guitar by Ernest Ranglin. All tracks are winners, specially the 2 Al Green covers (“Love and Happiness“ & “Let's Stay Together“ ) are real cool. All-time favourite !

Tracks: side 1: Let's Stay Together - Sly Mongoose - Love and Happiness

                side 2: Knowing That We Were Meant For Each Other - Yellow Bird – Limbo

Condition: the record looks mint- to mint-- in daylight & in normal artificial light, it looks mint-- to ex+ under a very strong halogen lamp. Nevertheless the playback has 6 tics next to the music: on the first track of side 1 there are 2 tics in a row plus 2 singular tics, the rest of this track and both other tracks play in mint- all of the time. On side 2 there are 2 medium tics at the very beginning of track 2, again the rest and both other tracks play in mint- all of the time.

The cover shows wear on all corners, the upper left corner is rubbed on the front side, both right corners are a little bended, the lower seam is rubbed in some parts ( altogether ca. one third ), the upper seam & the spine have no rub except for the corner parts, front- & back-lamination are intact ( except for rubbed corner-area ); overall vg-- ( please see photos, it's not THAT bad ! )

Zustand: die LP sieht bei Tageslicht & unter einer normalen Lampe mint- bis mint-- aus, unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe sieht sie mint-- bis ex+ aus. Trotzdem spielt die LP mit insgesamt 6 Tics neben der Musik ab: beim ersten Stück vom Seite 1 gibt es 2 Tics hintereinander und noch 2 Einzeltics, der Rest und die beiden anderen Stücke spielen durchgehend in mint-. Auf Seite 2 sind direkt am Anfang des zweiten Stücks 2 Tics hintereinander, auch hier spielen der Rest dieses Tracks und die beiden anderen Stücke durchgehend in mint-.

Das Cover hat Gebrauchsspuren an den Ecken, die oberer linke Ecke hat auf der Vorderseite Abrieb, die beiden rechten Ecken sind leicht geknickt, die untere Kante hat einige Stellen mit Abrieb ( insgesamt auf ca. 1/3 ), obere und seitliche Kante haben keinerlei Abrieb (außer im Eckenbereich), die Laminierung von Vorder- & Rückseite ist intakt ( außer im Eckenbereich ); insgesamt in vg-- ( bitte Fotos ansehen, es ist nicht soooo schlimm wie es sich vielleicht anhört ! ). alle Platten habe ich professionell gereinigt und angehört (meist ganz, manchmal in Ausschnitten). Kommen mit neuer Außen- & Innenhülle !

Grading & Cleaning:

  • the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

  • after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

  • I also visually graded the record in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

  • only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

  • cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve
