Original Stereo LP, MPS-BASF label , catalogue no. 21 22187-3, released in 1974. German pressing. Laminated front and rear cover.
This is keyboardist Monty Alexanders most sought after LP. Recorded in Kingston, Jamaica in 1974, this instrumental record features him on Rhodes piano in addition to the superb guitar playing of Ernest Ranglin.
The LP is an exciting mix of jazz-funk with a reggae feel, a highlight being a "killer" 9 minute version of Lets Stay Together.
The copy up for auction is the original German pressing on MPS (the album was released with a different cover at a later time in the US).

Condition:
Record - VG+ :The record is in very good plus condition overall. Side1 is EX whilst Side 2 has some light surface marks and sleeve scuffs and graded VG+ .The record plays great with powerful dynamics and has excellent gloss/sheen. Labels are extremely clean without writing or tears.
Cover -Ex: Front and back cover are in great condition. Colour saturation is still excellent on the front cover - the rear cover has aged to a slightly cream off-white colour. Lamination is still excellent however there is slight lifting of the laminate close to the middle of the spine on the front cover. There is no obvious ring wear. There are a couple of inch long creases on the front cover near the middle of the cover opening plus a few very small creases along the top and bottom edges. Corners and edges are quite clean and crisp showing minimal wear. Cover opening showing some wear but still relatively crisp. Spine with about five inconspicuous creases/splits . Title and artist on spine very legible however catalogue number has worn off. There is no writing anywhere on the covers.
In summary, this a clean, exceptionally well cared for, original German pressing of Monty Alexanders jazz-funk-reggae masterpiece.
