Up for sale is an unreleased UHQR half-speed test pressing of M&K Realtime RT-307 Digital Highlights. Yes, JVC of Japan made some UHQR pressings of titles other than the 8 MFSL titles they released, one of which is this LP. The 6 tracks are: 1. Don Menza/Burnin' (Blues for Bird), 2. The John Dentz Reunion Band/Bud Powell, 3. Jack Sheldon/That Old Feeling, 4. Freddie Hubbard/Shaw Nuff, 5. Wild Bill Davison/Riverboat Shuffle, and 6. Joe Marino/Gershwin Melody. I do not believe the UHQR version ever made it to print and remains unreleased, similar to unreleased MFSL UHQR titles such as Rickie Lee Jones, Styx, Beatles, Ry Cooder, and others.
The attached pictures depict the actual LP, cover, and UHQR test pressing logo on the plain white cover. I also showed a picture of the commercial release of the regular M&K RT-307, not included in this listing. This is just for illustration purposes to show what the regular release looks like. Again, just to make sure, this listing is for the UHQR test pressing and the regular white cover with test pressing logo.
The LP is in excellent to mint minus condition. I bought this LP years ago from Better Records and have played it once on my SME turntable and Graham Arm after cleaning on a Nitty Gritty record cleaner. It plays in nearly perfect condition and has quiet surfaces.
The plain white jacket is in VG condition as it has some creases and slight discoloration. The original rice paper sleeve is intact. The spine is intact but looks as if it were glued previously. It does serve a functional purpose to keep the LP in its original mint condition.
This is a very rare and one-of-a-kind record and a great addition to any M&K Realtime and/or UHQR half-speed and/or test pressing collection. I seriously doubt there are more than a handful of these in existence.
I have never taken the time to compare sonics between this UHQR test pressing and the regular M&K commercial release. M&K direct-to-disc and digital recordings are some of the most dynamic recordings in existence and great demo discs.
