    • DESCRIPTION: Whooo boy! AMAZING, RARE, DEMENTED, TWISTED, WACKED-OUT ULTRA-LO-FI GARAGE-PSYCH MONSTER by OBSCURE OUTSIDER artist! These long-lost songs were recorded between 1963 and 1968, originally privately pressed in a quantity of 100 in 1968, as a demo record on the artist’s very-own Pacific Atlantic Tribune label. The songs were never released commercially, until they were re-discovered a couple years ago by Scott Bubrig. According to Acid Archives, Bubrig gives a nice little synopsis of Stud Cole - the man and his recordings: "As expected, Stud Cole lived in a nocturnal world of stripper girlfriends, endless cocktails and dreams of becoming a successful recording artist. I was told he was very popular with the ladies and always had one by his side. I know most Stud Cole fans always wondered if he had a band or if he recorded the record alone with little or no assistance. Well, he had lots of help which is good because I was told Stud was a horrible guitar player. The bass player I'm in contact with already had a local band that Stud convinced into helping him record his album. For the record, Stud had six other musicians working with him (lead guitar, rhythm guitar, drums, bass, keyboards and a percussionist)."

This LP (on the Loopden label) is the first commercial release on vinyl of the original demo tracks - and apparently released in almost as small quantities as the original (I’ve seen the pressing quoted at 300, but can’t verify the actual number; but there is no doubt it is a tiny pressing)! It comes in a re-sealable plastic sleeve (not shrink-wrapped). Includes an informative insert, with biographical info and historical info about the band.

And man, the music is WILD! (This copy is UNPLAYED MINT, but I’ve previously heard the record). It’s hard to describe, but I’ll do my best. I’ve seen descriptions such as "Jack Starr meets Johnny Kidd", "Dick Dale meets Screamin’ Jay Hawkins", "a lysergic Conway Twitty", "Hasil Adkins backed by the 31 Flavors" and "Elvis fronting the '66 Yardbirds" - but that doesn’t really capture the essence. Underground Sounds comes closer, calling it:

"Los Angeles home studio rockabilly madman throwback vocals over Sunset Strip trash fuzz backing. Damaged lyrical concerns and real person moves. Private lost world kinda thinking ala Grudzien and Tweddle".

      That’s about right.

Musically, the tunes range from fuzzed-out ‘67 punk grinders to macho biker-rock to Elvis-influenced ballads to…well…just plain indescribably WEIRD! Apparently, Cole was shunned as too weird by both ’50 rockabilly purists and psychedelic visionaries, making him a true musical OUTSIDER! Fortunecity.com says: "The production, apparently by Cole himself, is demo-y, yes, but also peppered with weird echo and reverb and extreme guitar mixes that accentuate the seething quality of the music." Acid Archives adds: "Some tracks have a strange karaoke-like soundscape, with Cole's vocals upfront and perfect in sound, while the music is way in the back, compressed and muffled. On a few occasions the vocals or a guitar solo come in ½ a beat too early or too late, creating a weird Shaggs-like effect seldom found on record. Cole's vocals are in an obvious 1950s mode, while some of the lyrics come from an Ed Wood, Jr. type universe, and all this with a generic Hendrix-fuzz support".

I guess that sums it up!

This thing’s gaining CULT STATUS in both garage-psych and outsider music – so DON’T MISS OUT! Just an AMAZING BIZARRE GEM!

CONDITION: MINT (See GRADING GUIDELINES below for further details)

      LP GRADING GUIDELINES

    • Guidelines reflect TYPICAL factors determining grade - variations are noted in the description.
    • Please note I DO NOT USE EXCELLENT (EX) as a grade.
    • Please note my VG and G grades for vinyl generally are BETTER THAN GOLDMINE'S
    • Flaws for ALL covers graded VG or less, and labels graded VG+ or less, are noted in the description.
    • Vinyl graded VG or less is appropriately spot play-graded to assure sound quality.
    • Grades below G are not listed, as I typically do not sell merchandise in such condition.
    • Intermediate grades (e.g., NM-, VG/VG+, G+) are used, as applicable.

    • MINT - Factory Sealed; cover virtually flawless

    • NM+ (Near Mint Plus) - Factory sealed with minor cover flaws, OR an otherwise mint LP recently opened by me and played in spots for demonstration purposes

    • NM (Near Mint) - vinyl, cover and labels nearly flawless

    • VG+ (Very Good Plus) - what many refer to as "excellent"; pretty close to NM. Full or nearly full-gloss vinyl with a few minor surface or sleeve marks; possibly one or a couple small, light scuffs or scratches (if basically inaudible) on an otherwise NM piece. Expect minimal or very slight (at worst) surface noise in spots. Cover has very slight general wear, OR minimal wear and a couple of very minor flaws (noted as applicable in the description)

    • VG (Very Good) - Vinyl still very shiny, has a few light scuffs, sleeve marks and hairline scratches. Expect only slight surface noise in spots

    • VG- (Very Good Minus) - Vinyl still shiny or very shiny, has a few light scuffs, surface marks and/or small scratches, plus some sleeve marks and hairline scratches. Expect slight surface noise that's noticeable but NOT overwhelming.

    • G (Good) - Vinyl typically still shiny (sometimes very shiny); has some scuffs and some surface marks, generally a few or some light scratches, plus lots of sleeve marks and hairline scratches. Expect some surface noise throughout that's noticeable but NOT overwhelming - NO skips, sticks, heavy scuffs, deep scratches, excessive noise, or loud pops or clicks (unless noted in description)
