This is not only one of his rarest, but widely and genuinely recognized as probably two or three of Miles’ (and Mingus’!) finest works. Truly a masterpiece. Miles' interaction with Mingus is to die for.  And, lest we forget – the two hotheads nearly had a fistfight in the studio while recording this album (Mingus being a typical alpha-male and Miles being more of a Sanguinic character) but you would never be able to figure it out by listening to this gorgeous, blue and moody, music.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD+ . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS ONLY ABOUT GOOD++ (G++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has all three seams (top, bottom and spine) partially split,  as follows:

-        Top seam: between 8 and 10 inches  / 20 to 22 centimeters.

-        Bottom seam: more than 10 inches / 22 centimeters.

-        Spine: between 1 and 2 inches  / 2.5 to 5 centimeters.

-        [THE TOP AND BOTTOM SEAMS – AS YOU CAN SEE – HAVE BEEN TAPED WITH TWO UGLY PIECES OF BROWN PACKAGING TAPE, WHICH MIGHT BE POSSIBLE TO REMOVE, BUT WE DID NOT ATTEMPT TO]

-        Cover has a small peel-off mark, probably from the careless removal of the price sticker. (less than 1 square inch in size)

-        Cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-        Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3

-        Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-        Cover has some fraying/wear along the spine

-        Cover has a tape residue on the spine (yellowish discoloration from the removed scotch tape)

-        Cover has two corners slightly worn / dinged  / bent.

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No yellowing from aging

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
