MILES DAVIS VOLUME 1 Blue Note 1501, "P", "RVG," DG, Mono Vinyl
This is the first-pressing 1956, Frame Cover, "RVG" stamped, Deep-Groove, Flat Rim, "P"-pressing of MILES DAVIS VOLUME 1 on the Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 1501. (No "R" under "Note" on label) Musicians include Jackie McLean, Jay Jay Johnson, Kenny Clarke, Art Blakey.
This is a punchy-sounding disc with excellent detail and resolution of all instruments; great tone and depth. Rich, clear and very dynamic. VINYL has consistent low level surface noise on both sides; Side 2 slightly louder surface noise than Side 1. No distortion. No skips. No warps. No locked grooves. Nice gloss on both sides. Plays well overall. No loud ticks. Vinyl has four 1" feelable scratches. As with all Lexington Ave to New York USA Blue Note pressings, imperfections do not detract from this powerfully recorded and pressed vinyl. Instruments are clear and dynamic. The Deep-Grooved Blue "Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels" show "11am" in pen, as well as aging and spindle marks.

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
