MICKEY FINN & THE BLUE MEN: Reeling & Rocking (Oriole 1964 CB 1940)
This is a HUGE sound. An absolutely belting mod romp through Chuck Berry's Reeling & Rocking with little regard to the subtleties of the original. Jimmy Page joins the band to wail,for my money, his greatest wildest harmonica work of the period. In fact, the overall massive beat is not a million miles from the climax of Led Zeppelin's "How Many More Times" give or take a bass arrangement or two. Fancy that!
This 45 is an enormous rarity on the wonderful Oriole label and is in incredible condition, proper mint minus. Indeed there total lack of spindle marks around the centre hole leads me to think it has copy never been played. Of the few copies of this that made it out into the world 57 years ago - how many could have survived like this?
The vinyl is lush, jet black and shiny, free from any scruff scratches or even hairlines. The labels are proud, unfaded, and without writing rips or tears. A tiny circle of sticker residue can be detected by angling the record in light but otherwise I cannot find fault. This even comes in its original undamaged birth bag in the clean livery of the Oriole stable.
This is such a great record hammered out in a fever by musicians feeling every pounding note.
