Description
This is the first pressing original album KING 839. This album is by Mickey Baker, who was super important in Rhythm & Blues of the '50s and '60s. He provided guitar for literally hundreds of records, including Blue Moon (the Marcels), Runaround Sue (Dion), Baby Sittin' Boogie (Buzz Crawford), A Little Bit of Soap (the Jarmels), Continental Walk (Hank Ballard & the Midnighters), Soldier Boy and Love is a Swinging Thing (the Shirelles). Most of you know the early Rock N Roll song "Love Is Strange" by Mickey and Sylvia. Mickey Baker was the "Mickey" in the duo and most of you will remember the distinctive, big powerful guitar licks on that record. Mickey and Sylvia had a series of million selling records. This album is the rarest of his albums and was produced in 1966. It has crownless, black labels which makes it very rare and valuable. Check your Goldmine Price Guide for the values on this album! My Goldmine Price Guide lists this album at $400 in NM condition! This album is highly collectible and a great find for you vinyl collectors. The cover has very minor condition issues which is the reason for the album being priced at a discount to the NM price. The front has excellent original sheen (see pic). The top seam and the spine are intact and in very good condition, and the bottom seam has a 3 inch split. The back is very good. The vinyl has very good sheen, with minimal surface marks ~ The labels are also in very good condition. I believe the "pros" would grade this album very high, possibly VG+, but please note that I am not a "pro" vinyl collector and do not know exactly how the condition is graded.
