Description

Hi!  You're looking at an EXTREMELY RARE and highly sought record that is an ORIGINAL ISSUE on the Capitol FDS (Full Dimensional Stereo) label--the Stereo version of this LP is far rarer (and sounds much better) than the monophonic version!  The record features the remarkable virtuoso violinist MICHAEL RABIN near the beginning of his tragically short career, and in one of his very finest recordings--the LP is programmed to showcase Rabin's phenomenal tone and technique, and he's accompanied by conductor FELIX SLATKIN and The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra in a programme of eight violin showpieces.  Rabin performs the "Caprice Viennois" by FRITZ KREISLER; "Hora Staccato" by DINICHU (arr. HEIFETZ); "Meditation from Thais" by MASSENET; "Zigeunerweiser" by SARASATE; "Moto Perpetuo" by NICCOLO PAGANINI (arr. Fritz Kreisler); "The Old Refrain" by Kreisler; "The Flight of the Bumble Bee" by RIMSKY-KORSAKOV (arr. Heifetz); and "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso" by CAMILLE SAINT-SAENS.  Rabin is in top form throughout, and this LP is essential for violin music enthusiasts!

The record is in excellent overall condition and has an absoutely beautiful, nearly flawless NEAR MINT cover with NO split seams or shelfwear, and just a small $5.98 price in extremely light pencil in the upper right corner of the back cover and a very faint (barely visible) light blue record store stamp in the bottom right corner of the back cover.  The record also has the ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET which explains the then-new Full Dimensional Stereo process on both sides and is printed in full color.  The vinyl is in VG++ condition overall and should play very well, with some light scuffs visible--most of these will have no impact on play, and the most significant mark--at the very beginning of side one--shouldn't cause more than a few pops on the first few revolutions of the record.  A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of an EXTREMELY RARE and hard to find ORIGINAL record by violinist Michael Rabin!!

Thanks very much for looking, and good luck if you're bidding!  Also be sure to check out all of my other vintage classical vinyl currently listed on ebay auctions--I can combine shipping for multiple purchases for just $1.00 per single LP, or can combine by weight for overseas bid wins!
