Swedish Meshuggah was formed in in 1987. The band's name is Hebrew for "crazy". Their music mixes elements and influences from a wide variety of genres such as thrash, death, jazz fusion and mathcore. "obZen" is the follow-up to 2005's "Catch Thirtythree" Commenting on the band’s most axccessible album to date, drummer Tomas Haake: "We're super-excited about the new stuff!" We've got some fast, intense songs and hectic, heavy stuff that draws from all the things we've done in the past.” Bands such as Metallica, Deftones, Dream Theater, God Forbid Gojira Lacuna Coil, Lamb of God, Mushroomhead, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Tool have cited Meshuggah as an influence.
