Description
This is an overall fine original U.S. pressing copy of the rare sole LP by Merrell Fankhauser and (His Trusty) H.M.S. Bounty, released in 1968. From southern California, Fankhauser had previously been in surf group the Impacts, and led the groups Merrell and the Exiles and the short-lived Fapardokly (whose sole LP, most of which is comprised of Exiles tracks, is a major collectible). He founded the H.M.S. Bounty with Fapardokly guitarist Bill Dodd. Their sole LP features tight, catchy songs that range from pop (the title track, "Girl (I'm Waiting for You)") to guitar driven rockers ("Your Painted Lives," "Drivin' Sideways (on a One Way Street)") to spacy psych ("A Visit with Ashiya"). Fankhauser subsequently moved to Hawai'i and formed Mu with Captain Beefheart alum Jeff Cotton. The top 3/4 of the jacket of this copy is close to pristine. Unfortunately, the bottom 1/4 seems to have sustained some water damage, as a result of which the cover slicks have puckered and the underlying cardboard has warped a bit. Both slicks have come unglued from the cardboard around the bottom left corner on the back cover. I've included a few photos to give a sense of what all this looks like. Overall, I'll grade the jacket VG because as I said, most of it is still in fine condition. The disc is clean with some light scuffing, and plays with some light surface noise (EX).
I am in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
