Description
Welcome! Here is a superb first UK press of the debut album from May Blitz (Vertigo 6360 007). This eponymous 1970 album, with the coveted large swirl label, is in lovely condition throughout! Present also is the original date-coded (0171) swirl inner sleeve, fully intact.
Matrix numbers and mother/stamper codes are:
Side A: 6360007 1Y//1 11 1.
Side B: 6360007 2Y//1 12 1.
Using the Record Collector grading system, what do we have here?
Sleeve: The gatefold sleeve grades Excellent. (Some people would call it Excellent+++ or even better, but I try to be critical.) There is only VERY minor surface wear to the outside; three VERY small wrinkles to the finish near the edges are just that: wrinkles, not creases or bends. There is VERY minor soiling to the lower area of the back.
The spine is lovely, with clear lettering! There is no wear at all to any edges, and only minor corner wear. The name Alex is written in small letters just inside the record pocket. (Alex, we salute you! You are much more careful than the thoughtless dummies who scrawled their names on the outside of their record covers.)
The inside of the gatefold is clean, with no wear at all. Two inside wrinkles in the interior matte finish do not transfer to the outside.
Vinyl: Both sides of the vinyl gradeM-. The discs appear almost as new, and the sound quality is spectacular! You truly could not upgrade this vinyl.
Labels: Both swirl labels are super-clean, with truly minimal spindle tracking. Clearly, this album has been treated with great care over its life.
Inner Sleeve: This album has its original plastic-lined Vertigo swirl inner sleeve, dated-coded ‘0171’! This inner has only minor age discoloration; beyond that is in SUPER condition! There are no glue stains or seam splits. The plastic lining remains firmly secured.
And, in the end: When May Blitz came on the scene half a century ago, who else was doing hard, heavy rock? Well, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Budgie – but not many others. I hope that James Black, Reid Hudson and Tony Newman are proud of their contribution to the world’s music! Anyway, right here, right now, it would be all but impossible to upgrade this May Blitz album, so here is your chance at a terrific example! Please email me with any questions or if you would like to see additional images.
A Note on the Photos: As always, any bright spots or glare in my pictures is from my camera’s flash.
Returns: Full return privileges if dissatisfied, but I bet you won’t be! Please pay by PayPal.
About Me: I am not a dealer, but a longtime collector in the occasional process of dispersing my collection of English and German prog, rock, and blues albums.
Shipping: I will ship to any country on Earth if allowed by U.S. law! Just be aware that items shipped from the U.S. to some countries (such as Brazil and Russia) can require several weeks to arrive at their destination. Please be patient.
If your country of residence is known to experience occasionally difficult deliveries, please consider paying for signature-required delivery. Some sellers already mandate this. Me, I do not make this a requirement, but if I have a receipt from the Vestal, New York, post office confirming my shipment to you, that is the end of my delivery responsibility.
Pursuant to my statement above that I am not a dealer, I do NOT gouge anyone on shipping costs. If you are in the USA, figure on $4.00 for Media Mail; of course, you can do Priority, Overnight, you name it.
For shipments outside the USA, I generally use the value that eBay shows for First Class Mail International, although if I believe that my packing – which I pride myself on – will likely knock the cost up to the next price level, that is what I will go with initially. If the actual postage price turns out to be less, I will post an immediate refund for the difference. Please take a look at my feedback; no one has ever had an issue with my items or their shipping cost.
Insurance: If you would like, I will get an insurance quote for you. I pack things very well, but if you choose to not buy insurance, I will not be responsible if something nasty happens.
Namaste, everyone!
