MAMMOTH - self titled
Long deleted 1981 U.S. private pressing psych/prog rarity
Solid excellent (EX) condition vinyl - completely flat, weighty and retaining it's original and impressive jet black sheen. Little marked and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that just a few extremely light handling/paper scuff lines come into view - each non-obvious and certainly non-feelable, superficial and not impinging upon the wonderful sound quality - along with some occasional surface "dulling" in the run-off's adjacent to the label circumferences - very trivial. On side 2 (B1) there is a tiny surface mark which can just about be felt when running your finger over it very gently but this has no impact upon the sound quality at all. Excellent (EX) condition labels : near perfect with not even the usual one or two faint spindle trails. There are one or two barely noticeable handling marks on each label (inevitable with matt black labels) but these are very trivial and could be cleaned off anyway. Near mint (NM) condition non-laminated outer sleeve manufactured from nice thick cardboard and still in it's original cellophane (open on the opening side of the outer sleeve). Inspection through the cellophane reveals no edge scuffs, no creasing, no cardboard bends, firm unscuffed edges, rigid spine, and non-frayed opening edges. Near mint I would say! The colours, art work, and sleeve text each appear to be pristine. Excellent plus (EX+) stereo audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks, distortion, or interference and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum - negligible in fact with the only exception being a 2 second passage of very light background crackle towards the beginning of side 1, for which I can find no obvious cause. Every track is a great listen - a bit of prog, a bit of psych, and definitely Florida rock at it's very best - an album that definitely went under the radar when first released in 1981. Comes with original and plain white die-cut inner sleeve with no seam splits and just some mild corner creasing. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. A nice copy of this long deleted and extremely rare U.S. 1st pressing with the excellent sound quality being the true highlight : an inventive, long lost psych gem!

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
