MAD RIVER – “self-titled” (1968) Capitol-2985 original pressing VG+/Strong VG+ (cover/record)

One of the all-time classic and heralded West Coast acid psych albums – usually pointed to as the standard bearer for the genre even over and above Quicksilver Messenger Service. This first album is totally acid damaged with some off-kilter and jaw-dropping tripped out long songs like “High All the Time,” “Amphetamine Gazelle,” “Eastern Light, and “Wind Chimes” and the 12+ minute “War Goes On.” Very tough LP to find now, and it’s got great cover art. Killer.

This is an original pressing. The cover has some moderate ring wear and a “FREE” punch in the top let corner (Capitol’s way of marking a promo since they didn’t have white label promos),. There’s a little seam wear but no splits. The original rainbow label vinyl has some light scuffs and marks but is clean and enjoyable with only very minor audible surface noise. Conservative grading: VG+/Strong VG+ (cover/record).

I package all LPs securely in record mailers and remove the vinyl from the covers to prevent seam splits during mailing. I do not just stick your record in a priority mailer box from the post office or between two thin pieces of cardboard with no additional packaging materials like so many others!!!
