"MON" in matrix signified a pressing from Monarch Record Corp. of Los Angeles, CA

SOME INFO FROM "DISCOGS" Re First pressings info: It is hard to find a copy that plays without excessive surface noise. This is not necessarily because the vinyl is of poor quality, but because the recording itself had to be mastered very softly (due to its length, dynamic range and stereo separation.)
Elektra had this title pressed in 1967 by three different plants: Allentown (AL), Columbia, Terre Haute (CTH) and Monarch (MON). Each plant was sent a different master lacquer to cut from (rather than a copy of the mastertape which was more common in those days), thus ensuring that all pressings had similar high sound quality. 
Some incredible songs on this 1967 album from composer Reid King who married the Brazilian sound with
popular music of that era to produce an album that should have really taken off then, but due to the strange
setup of Canterbury Records who were in business to lose money for a Mattel tax shelter, the album was allowed
to die on the vine by Canterbury when it started to take off with airplay and sales.  Reid King went on to become

 THE VINYL IS VG+ - UNDER BRIGHT LIGHTS THERE ARE A  SOME THIN HAIRLINES AND SOME THIN SCRATCHES BUT NOTHING DEEP ALL ON  VERY SHINY VINYL

ON PLAYING THE SOUND IS VERY NICE, THERE IS A LITTLE NORMAL SURFACE NOISE AND SOME POPS AND CLICKS THAT MAINLY APPEAR  BETWEEN AND IN FRONT PART OF TRACKS  

LOUD AND GREAT DYNAMICS FROM THIS ORIGINAL 1ST PRESSING - NO SKIPPING OR JUMPING

VINYL HAS A NICE SHINE AND A VERY NICE LOOKING RECORD

JACKET IS VG+  MEDIUM WEIGHT US CARDBOARD - JACKET HAS NO SPLITS, WRITING, OR LABELS - SHOWS LIGHT RING WEAR AND  SHOWS LIGHT BUMPING TO CORNERS - SPINE IS VG++ WITH LITTLE EDGE BUMPING - THE LABELS ARE PERFECT AND SHOW LITTLE  SPINDLE MARKINGS

FINALLY ONE LAST WORD RE HAIRLINES, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANY NON SEALED RECORD WITHOUT THEM, MANY HAD THEM FROM NEW. MOSTLY THEY ARE A RESULT OF STORAGE AND USE AND USUALLY HAVE LITTLE IMPACT ON THE SOUND QUALITY. THE SAME GOES FOR BACKGROUND NOISE, UNFORTUNATELY ALL RECORDS WILL HAVE SOME AND THIS VARIES AND REFLECTS THE PRESSING QUALITY. 

Most records have production marks where someone touched or moved the vinyl while it was still semi-soft.  These marks look like smudges, but are not scratches or "paper scuffs" and do not usually sound.  Untouched vinyl from newly-opened records have these marks.

How I Grade Condition Of Discs

Mint

This means I have owned it from new or purchased from a distributors warehouse, basically it means absolutely new shape, never been played or out of its dust cover. In the case of LP's, a North American album will have to be factory sealed (anyone can reseal an album!) Take Note: European and Japaneses albums were never shrink wrapped!

Note: Being mint does not guarantee it's free of pops and clicks, many pressings especially from the US were made with very poor vinyl and in a hurry which means often there are imperfections in the pressing. As a former importer, we were often given back brand new albums due to clicks heard in the playback.

Mint Minus - No such thing, it's either mint or not.

Excellent - A disc is super clean, with no visible marks

 Excellent Plus, means it's probably mint but can't be proven by me.

Excellent minus, is a disc that is excellent except it may have some markings that do not show up in the playing

VG - A disc that is STILL in good shape, WILL have some scuffs or scratches, not in excellent shape but well worth owning. VG + and ++,a disc that is that much better than VG.
