Postage and Payments

All records bought/won in Australia will be sent Registered Post and will require you to sign for the record on delivery. This also means if you are not home you will then have to pick up the record from an Australia Post designated office.

I DO NOT offer a return on any record sales. Only Damage to the parcel at delivery means you have a right to return, so DO NOT SIGN. Hand it back unopened, to driver/agent for them to return to sender, I will claim the insurance that I provided for the parcel, on its return. I will then refund your purchase and postage costs. I WILL NOT ACCEPT RETURNS ONCE YOU (OR YOUR AGENT) HAVE SIGNED FOR THE PARCEL. Explain this to all in your household.

Purchases of Multiple listings (3 records maximum) at the same time, will be packed together and have postage applicable for 2 or 3 records (discs), whether in a box set or not.

I grade my records conservatively using the Goldmine Standard. Firstly I do not believe a record 20 to 50 years old can be mint even if it were sealed, secondly near mint is vague, it is more likely to be Excellent, so this is the highest rating I will ever bestow. I play and visually grade my records to my high a standard, as if I were buying it to enjoy it myself.    All record photographs are of the record you will buy, What You See Is What You Get – I will also list, edition number (where known), colour of label, label and sleeve condition.                       Visual grading is only done in natural sun light. On the turntable I check for warps buckles and over sized centre holes and that it is centred.

Playing to grade a record: I use a Technics SP10mkII, Fidelity Research arm which is well set up, with Garrott P77 cartridge in new condition. If the visual inspection is suspect I will listen more closely to the sound off record. I listen to both sides of the record. I listen for surface noise like hiss, scratches, bubbles and pops. The written description will list most faults to  the best I can, but it is interpretive, my ff may be your fff. I do not sell records that do not play to the end on both sides on my turntable. If you have an issue of miss-tracking due to large transients in the music that your particular turntable /arm /cartridge combination cannot cope with, it is not likely the record’s fault (it did play through on mine) but most likely your set-up. It is vital that a turntable is set up and maintained correctly. Any one of the following points not correct can cause skipping. I.E. The platter is level, correct tracking weight and anti-skating adjustments, stylus is in good condition and VTA is adjusted as per manufacturer’s recommendation, and the record is clean. Turntables are not CD players; they do not have error correction built in. If you cannot be sure that your turntable is correctly set up, have a knowledgeable friend or Hifi salesperson look at it.

Collectors take note, I DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS, and none of my records are perfect, they have been played, some more than ten times, SO THEY ARE SECOND HAND.          ENJOY THE MUSIC!

VINYL GRADING- DONE VISUALLY &  PLAYED FULLY BOTH SIDES TO END                                I CONSERVATIVELY GRADE MY RECORDS TO ALLOW FOR  INTERPRETIVE EVALUATIONS

VINYL IS NOT PERFECT; THE BEST CHANCE OF PERFECTION IS TO BUY IT NEW.

SOME OLDER RECORDINGS HAVE DISTORTIONS CAUSED BY THE MICROPHONE OR TAPE OVERLOADING DURING THE RECORDING . ALL PRESSINGS OF THIS RECORD WILL HAVE THE SAME AUDIBLE DISTORTION. SO THE GRADINGS BELOW DO NOT REFER TO THE AUDIO QUALITY OF THE MASTER THAT MADE THIS RECORD

MINT - DOES NOT EXIST, EVEN A SEALLED 25 YEAR OLD RECORD MAY HAVE POPS FROM VINYL DEGRADATION OVER TIME CAUSED BY HEAT, IT MAY BE WARPED, IF IT’S OPENED AND PLAYED IT IS NOT MINT. NEAR MINT IS SEMANTICS FOR “YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO PAY MORE FOR THIS”!

POOR (P) - LP HAS 10-20 SOUNDING AND MORE NON SOUNDING MARKS WHICH WILL REDUCE THE QUALITY OF SOUND NOTICABLY, BUT WILL PLAY THROUGH WITHOUT ANY GETTING STUCK, BUT GOOD ENOUGHTO DIGITISE AND DECLICK, BUT WITH SOME DISTORTION CAUSED BY STYLUS WEAR.                                               ONLY OFFERED FOR SALE IF VERY OLD/RARE/ AND OR IF COVER IS VERY GOOD.
