Songs for Drella (A Live Performance)
Very rare vinyl pressing of Lou Reed and John Cale performing their tribute to Andy Warhol live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Performed beautifully within days of the works completion, Songs for Drella was later re-recorded in the studio and released commercially but didn’t capture the pure emotion of this live setting.
Side note: neither had spoken much since Lou Reed left the Velvet Underground and only at Andy Warhol’s memorial did they reconcile and decide to create this song cycle in tribute. Fascinating how well they seem to compliment each other after all those years of no contact. Truly amazing.
Included with this very limited pressing is an authentic Playbill from the actual performance held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and also used for the front cover artwork of this album.
The condition of the vinyl is pristine with the cover showing only the slightest of wear. The actual playbill is in great shape with no issues at all. Included is the additional and separate Song List that was added after the printing of the playbill had been completed.
An addition to the Velvet Underground section of your record shelf that doesn’t come along very often especially with a playbill from this recorded performance.
