From the archives of a noted Australian rock’n’roll historian and broadcaster comes this fantastic piece of Australian rock history. Test Pressing + EMI Show Souvenir Sampler EP. Australian pressing. 1969 EMI TEST PRESSING 7XCT 3361. EMI SAMPLER, 1969, Columbia, SPR 2. Both 45s play at 33rpm. Cover reads: EMI Little LP Sampler 6 Tracks Show Special 6 Top Australian Artists. The Flying Circus – Shame Shame; The Groove – Stubborn Kind Of Fellow; Johnny Farnham – Everybody Oughta Sing A Song; Little Pattie – What The World Needs Now Is Love; Johnny Ashcroft and Kathleen McCormack – By The Time I Get To Phoenix; The Twilights – Once Upon A Twilight. Little Known Fact: Shame Shame was supposed to be The Flying Circus’ first single but EMI didn’t think it commercial enough. The only time it was released on record is on this EP. The Test Pressing in Very Good Plus condition, some visual marks that don’t affect play aside from a few random pops. There’s what appears to be a major deep blemish on Track 3 of Side 1 but this plays through fine on my turntable with a few pops. Generally crackly in the quieter passages but sound quality is much better and more dynamic than the released Sampler. Generic paper sleeve. Sampler record SPR 2 in Very Good condition, scuffs and minor scratches, crackly and pops. Picture sleeve in Very Good condition, owner’s stamp on back cover.
