Lee Morgan - Cornbread LP - Blue Note - BLP 4222 Mono RVG NY USA
Mono 1st Pressings have VAN GELDER Mastering Stampers in the Dead Wax and have Blue + White Blue Note Labels that say: BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC - NEW YORK USA. Mono 1st Pressings also have the following address Near the bottom of the Back Cover: BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York, N.Y. 10023. There is no "ear" visible on this record but it still may be a first pressing -- for more information, google: The Blue Note Label Guide. In that site it states: "Liberty issued around forty Blue Note titles which had been prepared for release prior to the sale of Blue Note. These titles are pressed without ear in their first edition, in every other respect original Blue Note (Van Gelder, NY label, original cover), apart from the missing ear. Examples are 4193, 4196, 4204, 4206, 4209, and many others approaching the 4250 cut-off."
Vinyl has scuffs and scratches (some very noticeable) -- visually VG. Side 1 plays very clean with only a bit of background noise here and there. On Side 2 the background noise is more noticeable. Thus, Side 1 plays better than VG+ and side 2 plays under VG+.
The cover is between VG and VG+ with wear and some writing on back. (see photos)
Grade Scale:
(S) SEALED = VINYL assumed mint, never open.
(NM) NEAR MINT = VINYL nearly perfect, no obvious signs of wear. COVER should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes.
(VG++ or EX) VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS or EXCELLENT = VINYL almost NM but it might have a few more superficial signs of use and slight sleeve scuffing. COVER may only have the slightest signs of normal wear.
(VG+/VG++) Between VERY GOOD PLUS and VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS = VINYL may have a bit more signs of use & scuffing than VG++. Surface noise will be more noticeable. COVER may have slight ring wear or discoloration. Very small seam split.
( VG+ ) VERY GOOD PLUS = VINYL may have scuff marks, very light scratches and signs of some wear and will have surface noise in spots, generally still has it's luster. COVER will have slightly more ring wear or discoloration. Minor seam split.
( VG ) VERY GOOD = VINYL has more noticeable scuffs and scratches. Surface noise will be noticeable (may crackle, pop or make other annoying noises), especially in the quiet areas. COVER has minor writing, tape or sticker, ring wear and more seam splits.
( G ) GOOD = VINYL may have multiple scratches or small gouge(s), may have continuous crackles, pops, significant surface noise. COVER has more than normal wear and tear.
