Il quarto album dei Led Zeppelin, pubblicato l'8 novembre 1971 dalla Atlantic Records, è privo di un titolo ufficiale. Nel corso degli anni è stato generalmente indicato con la dicitura "Led Zeppelin IV",[2] in accordo con la numerazione dei precedenti dischi, anche se non sono mancati appellativi diversi: sul catalogo della Atlantic Records il disco è stato anche denominato , Four Symbols e The Fourth Album,[3] ed è stato variamente indicato come Untitled, Runes, Sticks, ZoSo (sigla dedotta, per pareidolia, dalla forma della runa scelta come emblema da Jimmy Page), The Hermit o, più semplicemente, IV.[4]

Sin dalla sua pubblicazione è risultato essere uno degli album di maggior successo della storia, con oltre 23 milioni di copie vendute nei soli Stati Uniti, dove ha totalizzato 260 settimane in classifica. È stato stimato che nel mondo l'album abbia venduto circa 35.7 milioni di copie.[5] Nel 2003 la rivista Rolling Stone lo colloca alla posizione n. 69 nella lista dei 500 migliori album di tutti i tempi.

SS = Still Sealed. Disco ancora sigillato. 

M = Mint. Perfetto sotto ogni punto di vista. Vinile senza difetti, cover pure. 

NM = Near Mint. Piccolissimi difetti, qualche segno di uso nella cover, ma maneggiato con molta cura. Il vinile suona perfettamente, quasi come nuovo. 

EX = Excellent. Mostra qualche segno di uso più marcato che non ne pregiudica la qualità, sia nella cover che nel vinile. Puo' essere presente qualche piccolo difetto. 

VG = Very Good. Ancora di aspetto soddisfacente, ma possono essere presenti segni di usura come segni o graffi leggeri, anche se suona bene con qualche click o pop ogni tanto. Possibili leggeri fruscii e scricchiolii non persistenti. La cover può avere segni di usura nella costola, leggera scollatura ai bordi, leggera traccia di ring wear, piccoli adesivi o piccole scritte. 

G = Good. Percettibili cracks e pops all'ascolto, usura marcata della cover. Disco molto usato con disturbi marcati o gravemente rovinato ma non salta. Copertina usurata e/o macchie e/o scritte e/o strappi ma senza parti mancanti. Disco da comprare giusto per averlo. A volte puo' essere vinile G con copertina NM.

The untitled fourth studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, commonly referred to as Led Zeppelin IV, was released on 8 November 1971 on Atlantic Records. Produced by guitarist Jimmy Page, it was recorded between December 1970 and March 1971 at several locations, most prominently the Victorian house Headley Grange.

After the group's 1970 album Led Zeppelin III received lukewarm reviews from critics, Page decided their fourth album would officially be untitled. This, along with the inner sleeve's design featuring four symbols that represented each band member, led to the album being referred to variously as , Four Symbols, The Fourth Album, Untitled, Runes, The Hermit, and ZoSo (which was derived from Page's symbol).[1] In addition to lacking a title, the original cover featured no band name, as the group wished to be anonymous and to avoid easy pigeonholing by the press.[2]

Led Zeppelin IV was a commercial and critical success, producing many of the band's most well-known songs, including "Black Dog", "Rock and Roll", "Going to California", and the band's signature song, "Stairway to Heaven". The album is one of the best-selling albums worldwide at 37 million units,[3][4] and with a 23-times platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America, it is the second-best-selling album in the United States.[5] Writers and critics have regularly cited it on lists of rock's greatest albums.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

SS = Still Sealed.

M = Mint. Vinyl and cover without defects.

NM = Near Mint. Small defects, some signs of usury in the cover, but handled with great care. The vinyl sounds perfectly, almost like new.

EX = Excellent. Shows some signs of usury that doesn’ t affect the quality, both in the cover that in the vinyl. There may be some defects.

VG = Very Good. Still looks fine, but there may be signs of wear, such as signs or light scratches, even if it sounds good with a few clicks or pops occasionally. Possible light crackles and crunches, but they aren’t persistent. The cover may have signs of wear in the rib, slight cleavage at the edges, slight trace of ring wear, small stickers or small lettering.

G = Good. Perceptible cracks and  pops while listening, marked wear of cover. The LP  is very used with disorders marked or severely damaged but no jumps. Cover worn and / or spots and / or written and / or tears but no missing parts. Sometimes it can 'be a vinyl G with a cover NM.
