Led Zeppelin IV Lilac Colored Limited Edition Pink Atlantic K 50008
Purchased in the secondary market advertised as being in excellent condition following my own evaluation I would agree with this numerically scoring the vinyl an 89 and the cover an 80. Following a light cleaning and a test play through the Grado’s I did notice a couple of issues (three ticks at the very start of Black Dog and other occasional surface notice, without those first ticks I would have scored this near mint. The B-side played almost without a noise out of place) however, critically listening to the album I will say the sound was excellent. According to what I found on Discogs the sticker on the top right front of the cover that reads ‘Coloured Vinyl’ belongs there. The sticker on the top left that reads ‘Jem Records Import’ does not; related to symmetry perhaps? The cover has some light waves on the front and back (but 100% no weird smells like it was sitting in some nasty basement). I can’t cite a cause and I don’t think it’s related to water at all but it is there. The other critical issue is that, as I attempted to capture, on the rear of the gatefold there is separation on the bottom. I found what looks like a 1/2’ swipe with a blue marker on the front cover (bottom right of the painting) as well as some surface marks (above the sticks on the guys back) and a couple on the back cover, which also shows some light ring wear. There is some wear in the corners which I also attempted to capture; I’ve listed a host of nominal issues, I just don’t want any unpleasant surprises upon a close inspection. The album has remained in a plastic bag since purchased and the vinyl has been placed in a Mofi sleeve.
The album will be shipped in a Whiplash mailer. If you have any other questions please let me know and thanks for looking!
