Description

An original Zep IV from Q1 1972 on the UK Aklantic Orange & Green label. Matrix A3/B4. Ething 'Porkie/Pecko'. Both the new Kinney catalogue numbers and old Atlantic Red&Plum are present - 2401012 & 50008. Etchings "Porky/Pecko" - as per those Q4 1971 copies. These transitional copies come hot on the heels of the last Red & Plum copies at Xmas-1971. There's even the 'Misty Mountain Top' typo error on the side 2 label. It's effectively the very 1st possible offering on the orange and green label - but has the same audio cut from late-1971! And this makes these transitional copies quite desirable as they offer Red & Plum copy audio for a fraction of the price. If you're looking for GREAT audio and reasonable price...read on! The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Also included is the textured grey lyric inner sleeve with exposed flipbacks [same as red & plum copies]. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side, and one very superficial long trail - absolutely nothing remotely troublesome or that would appear in the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. The audio is carried off with aplomb and should leave most folk spell-bound. The tricky thing to find on Zep IV is those low-key acoustic tracks playing clean..Stairway & Evermore. And this example delivers them very clean with little to complain at. You might detect a few isolated low-level crackles in California - but even this is very minor [and difficult to completely rule out]. In summary, a beautiful rendition which you'd be hard pushed to better. Most certainly a keeper...
Cover (Vg+) In very nice condition with a front only exhibiting lightest handling wear, and one sticker removal mark top-right. The rear looks good too, but with a touch of foxing in one or two spots. The interior looks very nice and clean - no issues. There's a touch of edge wear in places, but it is in very good order. The spine looks very nice too with just some wear at either end. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg) Nice clean surfaces. Edges have split and have been taped up.
