Description
This is an original UK first pressing of the Led Zeppelin II LP, on the Red/Plum Atlantic label. These first pressings are distinguished by the label design, the light brown sleeve made by E J Day (later pressings were darker) and some different song titles on the labels. The first title difference is the "Lemon Song" on side one, which later changed. The much rarer difference is that the side two label lists the second track as "Livin' Lovin' Wreck" rather than the "Livin' Lovin' Maid" which appears on all later pressings (and is the title used on the sleeve track listing). This item is an extremely rare pressing with the Wreck name on the label credits.
The record sleeve is in generally very good to excellent condition, with slight rubbing wear along the 3 edge seams (but no splits) and some very light ring wear visible on the back face. The spine shows some discolouration/fading, presumably from being exposed to sunlight. There is a tiny scuff top right on the front face, and a faint crease on the back face near the opening edges. Inside the sleeve is in excellent condition, with very little wear. If it were not for the fading on the spine, I would have graded the sleeve EX. The inner sleeve is poly-lined plain white (slightly yellowed now) in excellent condition, with no marks, rips or split edges.
The disc labels are both in excellent condition, with no scuffs or marks or damage, and very little evidence of spindle marking or hole wear. I have two close-up photos of the labels below, to show condition and illustrate the all-important song credits. The disc itself is in EX- condition, with just a small number of light surface marks, but nothing that affects listening enjoyment at all. I've played parts of the disc and there is very light crackle audible in the inter-track gaps, but no worsening of sound quality.
