Description
When Led Zeppelin II was first released, the album was mastered for pressing by a young Robert Ludwig. His mix was hotter than most others at the time and had an extended bottom end which caused the needles in some record players to jump right out of the groove. Atlantic execs had another pressing made, and these early pressing have become highly collectable.
This album has the "RL" initials in the runout on side 1 and "RL" and "SS" (Sterling Sound) on side 2. It sounds great - really dynamic and a strong but not overpowering bass. The record itself is VG. There are some scratches visible and audible, and some background noise can be heard in quieter sections. It does not detract from the music, though. No skips or repeats. Clean label. Original inner sleeve. I am not certain if this is the original cover; it is smooth, and not textured, like I thought the originals were. It is in VG condition with one 2" split on the top edge. All in all, a great sounding and collectable record!
Please ask all questions before bidding - I will be happy to answer them for you. I am a small time collector/dealer. My goal is to get good records into the hands of good people at good prices. All records are shipped well protected in a cardboard record mailer. All of my records are hand cleaned and play tested before I list them. I can combine shipping (in fact, I encourage it) for multiple items - simply add one dollar per additional record.
Respect the groove!
