Led Zeppelin II LP - Original RL (Bob Ludwig) Mastering.
Ok. So let's say you've always wanted to hear the mythical RL mastering but you don't feel like paying completely outlandish prices. This may be the copy for you. The record itself looks not so great, to say the least, under harsh lights. There is indeed plenty of crackle in the quiet parts. Lines and marks. However, when the music is rocking, as it often does, you barely notice it. I listened to it on headphones start to finish using a United Audio turntable. Besides Jimmy page having a blast with the panning knobs, I found a skip at the end of "Ramble On" during the "baby, baby, baby" fade out. On my turntable, everything else played through. To my ears, the bass is the biggest benefactor. If you love John Paul Jones this is the mastering job for you. There is definitely something to what people say about it and why it is sought after. It has the best "mood" to it of any of the numerous masterings that have been done for Led Zeppelin II. I'm just trying to give an honest review of what I'm selling because i don't usually sell anything that looks like this. But, i also know how badly people want to hear it so I've tried to come up with a reasonable starting auction price that befits the market for it.
Record - VG based on overall feeling but definitely looks shoddy and has crackle
Cover - Fair. Again, not great.
side 1: 691671-A "RL" P LW M AT are all on the dead wax as well side 2: ST-A- 691672-A. "RL"ss I tried to get a picture of it in the super small runout area.
