Description
Larry’s Rebels were New Zealand’s Animals. Our Paul Revere and the Raiders. The top notch local pop band with bluesy bite, who released a handful of vital discs, and for a brief few years were all over the media, the charts and the nation’s bedroom walls.
The Rebels were Auckland’s first great homegrown pop band of the modern pop era; hard working and electrifying live.
Larry’s Rebels first and only album, A Study In Black, was recorded with Garth Benfell at the Shortland Street NZBC TV studios in Auckland, and released in the summer of 1967. The highly collectible record is a hodge-podge of disposable pop and classy R&B tracks. Of note is ‘Inside Looking Out’, a piece of Animalistic urban blues, and the Williams/Morris original ‘Shakin’ Up Some Soul’, a hard out frugger that kept Rebels fans bouncing.In really good VG+ playback condition, no splits or damage to the sleeve, US shipping only.
