LARGE RARE USA VINTAGE VINYL MUSIC DISPLAY SIGN - “RECORDS”
Rare opportunity to purchase this rare USA sign displaying the word ‘RECORDS’. This sign was originally displayed outside a famous second hand vinyl record shop in Chicago which had been in business since the late 1950’s. I used to visit the shop regularly and on my last visit just before its closure in the late 80's, I was fortunate to be able to purchase this fine piece of rare record ephemera.
Over recent years it has since been displayed in my own record shop and in my record room at home. I am now selling this unique piece of historical USA music from my collection due to recent house move and no room to display it unfortunately.
It has a cool vintage curve design with hollow recess to ideally be illuminated to create that authentic eye catching look. I believe it is made of heavy, thick plastic/resin type material (very strong and sturdy for internal or exterior use). Off white background with retro style blue writing.
Weighs 3 kilos.
Dimensions: 4ft wide x 2ft high x 3inch recess for light aperture.
Overall it is in great condition considering its age. It has a small drill hole either side for hanging purposes and has a slight ‘V’ chip on top edge (see picture) and adhesive residue on rear where it was previously fixed to the outside of a building.
Back then it was a costly experience having this item shipped as the postage from the USA was very high. Currently it’s looking for a new music lover’s home or shop for this unique piece of music history to be displayed.
