Description
SAMUEL PRODY – “same”
LP - Germany 1971, Global 6306 906
Original 1st pressing on “Global”! A super-rare record by a british band that for whatever reasons was only released in germany. One of the 1st outings of the “Global” record-company (still in existence), back in 1971 distributed by “Intercord”. So distribution should have been better (although not “global”, haha), but it is really rare even overhere. (see POKORA)
The music is fu king great heavy progressive rock, whipped out by 4 guys hardly older than 20, the younger brothers of BLACK SABBATH and BLUE CHEER. Thundering drums and a double guitar-attack with a lead-vocalist who sounds like a possessed DEKE LEONARD. (one track even has a phased drum-break!)
Condition: (grading: NM/ EX +/ EX/ EX -/ VG)
Vinyl – EX
Record was not played often (no spindle-marks!), so no distortion or worn-out grooves. It looks and plays great with next to no usual background-crackle, and hardly any between songs and only little in the starting grooves. 1st track/side 1 has a small scratch and a tiny speck of dirt (or whatever, something left by pre-owners? a pressing flaw? See small pic*), surprisingly almost inaudible, bit of crackle and 2 light clicks to be heard. Record is otherwise clean, very very few little hairlines or papercuffs, shiny vinyl and clean labels! (*= I tried to clean it to no avail but it affects playing hardly at all (the visible dust is on the screen of the scanner!)
Cover – EX –
Laminated gatefold. Few lamination liftings, smaller on front left, but going over spine to the back. Bigger on front lower right, but only in black parts, check scan. (has a nice psychedelic effect though ;-)) few creases in spine, 2 small cuts and dents on back at opening. Inside looks way better with only very few tiny creases. Corners only slightly worn, seams almost perfect.
(Cover-design by the same guy who is responsible for the SILBERBART-sleeve by the way!)
Not a perfect copy, but still a very beautiful copy of a really rare record! I found this in a “collection” of 70s disco/K-Tel hits, so obviously the pre-owner has not played it often. I only played it once to check - to my regret cause it´s an incredibly great record and I wish I could keep it – need the dough though : (
