First Album
Originally issued in 1971, this is one of the all time classics of the acid-rock/freak-out end of the German Kraut-Rock period.
This copy is a superbly produced facsimile of the original Ohr label issue, right down to the carefully copied label.
It doesn't say anywhere but I'm guessing that it originated in Germany as the matrix number uses the traditional German DIN typeface.
I acqured it about 10 years ago but have never got around to playing it!
I have two original Ohr label copies, but I bought this because I couldn't resist the superb quality of the re-created multi-gatefold sleeve, lovingly copied from the original: perfect in every way. The textured card used is an exact copy in terms of colour, inks and text-font. The poetry by Allen Ginsburg inside is crisply printed and the gatefold wings of the sleeve line up perfectly when closed.
The album consists of two side-long tracks in the cosmic guitar/freak-out vein of Ash Ra Tempel's music.

Heat-haze harmonics begin 'Amboss', the opening side-long track.
Intense cymbals and frenzied rumbling bass catch a rhythm, ride it, and then it descends once more. This is power-trio-playing as meditational force. When Klaus Schultze's drumming comes in after about three minutes, the thunder is highly charged and superfit, right on The Beat. Then it's off on the wildest 20 minutes of freakout blitzkrieg. At one point, everything breaks down into a guitar blaze of feedback fed through FX for minutes on end, until the drums tear back in so crazily and in comes Hartmut Enke's ferocious bass.
If Side 1 pulverised you, then the 25 minute 'Traummaschine (Dream Machine)' lets you lie there in the afterglow and never disturbs you beyond the slightest disruption of vibrations. A percussionless dreamscape of sounds cascades around the room, and a wailing woman's-voiced beauty fills the air. Then, rising out of the peace comes the guitar shimmer and finally the hollow congas of Klaus Schultze. The fuzz beauty of Manuel Gottsching's guitar scythes all down the great rush through space. Then it's off into yet another inspiring dimension as Ash Ra Tempel fly around the universe... Ash Ra Tempel is at its greatest when it's impossible to work out what instrument makes which sound.

All discs are posted in sturdy professional disc-mailing cardboard envelopes. I always insert two squares of corrugated cardboard around the disc arranged so that the corrugations of each board are at right angle to each other for added stiffness. I guarantee that any disc I most out will not arrive bent, warped or damaged.
I always remove the disc from the sleeve and pack the disc into a polythene outer cover.
