Description

Please read my description carefully before bidding.  I will ship the item worldwide and will accept free return if it doesn't match the listing description.

This one is the first mono, flat edged, and deep-grooved pressing of Lou Donaldson's LOU DONALDSON QUINTET on Blue Note Records, catalog no. BLP-5021.  This is the very 1st album of Lou Donaldson as a leader.  His sound was very fresh and adventurous.  A heavy vinyl and flat rim version of 10 inches LP.

This is an original issue from Blue Note Records, released in 1952, not a reissue version of Classic Records or Analog Production.  With "EAR" etched on the dead wax of both sides.  No "R" and no "INC" on both sides.  The records of Blue Note during this time were not recorded by Rudy Van Gelder, thus, there are no "RVG" etched on the dead wax of both sides.  "RVG" will not appear in the dead wax until BLP-5043.

Address on labels: "BLUE NOTE RECORDS 767 LEXINGTON AVE NYC".  The cover is also the 1st version frame cover with liner note and list of blue note catalogs and no address on the back cover.

Artists Included: Lou Donaldson (alto saxophone), Blue Mitchell (trumpet), Gene Ramey and Percy Heath (bass), Art Blakey and Arthur Taylor (drums)

The vinyl plays NM on Side 1.  Side 2 play very nice except on the very end of song no.1, it get stuck. Otherwise plays well all along. Thus, I rated Side 2 as G-

The vinyl still looks bright and shinny under the bright light with scuffs but no scratch.  Light spindle marks on labels.  I saw a trace of really small needle drop on Side 2 at the very end of song no. 1 which, unfortunately, causes stuck or repeated at the very last note of that song.

The cover is VG+ due to around 3 inches split on the lower left corner.

The record is play graded as well as visually.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws.

My grading is as follows: M (perfectly like new), NM, NM-/VG++, VG+, VG, VG-, G, G-. You will be satisfied.  And I will accept a free return.  Please bid with confidence.
