LOU DONALDSON “Gravy Train” RVG, Blue Note BST 84079 Stereo Vinyl

This is the “RVG STEREO” stamped pressing of LOU DONALDSON’s “Gravy Train” on the “New York USA” labels of Blue Note BST 84079. Musicians include Donaldson, Herman Foster, Ben Tucker, Dave Bailey, Alec Dorsey.

VINYL plays with consistent low-level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks. But ensemble sections are very clear, dynamic and strong. No distortion. No skips. Very Good gloss. A few hairline marks, none feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The “New York USA” labels are very clean, spindle wear. See photos.

COVER is in good shape. Ringwear, hole-punch. Corners worn. Seams and spine show cracking. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket is clean, hole-punch. Please see photos.

   

This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
