Please Note: This is a 3-Day Auction. Additionally, I grade seriously according to Goldmine's scale. I don't make up grades (i.e. NM--, VG+++, etc, etc). If a condition falls inbetween two grades, I always grade to the lower of the two.
Up for auction is this intriguing Jamaican private-label import LP of Lord Antics and the Montegonians, which I recently purchased for your consideration from the son of the original owners, who was clearing out his parent's estate. "Mr. Rake & Scrape", Antics Disc label, no label number. Guaranteed fresh to the worldwide market. I'm not a Reggae, Ska or Calypso-record expert, dealer, or audiophile...but have enjoyed listening to vintage vinyl for almost 20 years now. After playing this LP, the only genre description I could think of was "1960's Calypso with Reggae/Ska, Jazz, Folk, Bluegrass, and 60's Lounge influences...topped off with some background psychedelic reverb all over the place". I have no idea what proper genre this should be classified as. Consider a little banjo, violin, harmonica, etc with your reverbed-Calypso. (check out the instrument list on the cover/jacket). Any assistance on age of this LP, whether 1960s or early 1970s, would be appreciated, as always.
The primitive cover/jacket grades at a STRONG G+ (Good+)...with older, clean, tape repairs on the top and bottom seams. No musty, moldy, or offensive odors. No extraneous ink or pencil markings.
The vinyl grades visually at VG, with no warp factor...simply some scuffs and scrapes, and retains decent sheen. Labels are a strong VG+ with no spindle scuffs. The record play-grades at an enjoyable VG...with no skips. It also retains nice fidelity (considering it's a private pressing). Matrix numbers are, Side 1: "Lord Antic" and "DSR-7515-A D.T."...and Side 2: "Lord Antic" and "DSR7516B DT"
