For auction is a rare factory sample pressing of the 1970 LP "Lennon & McCartney Reggae Style" by the Jamestown Sheiks. Chapter One Records CMS 1001 (Stereo).

Condition: Vinyl = VG. Shows some light surface marks under a strong light. Nothing feel-able. Record sounds great with very little lessening of sound quality. Sleeve = VG. Some ring/shelf wear, fading, a little laminate creasing on front. Matrix numbers are: XZAL-9786.P-1W & XZAL-9787.P-1W

There are claims that this record is the first reggae treatment of Lennon & McCartney material. The tracks are mostly in an up-tempo, rhythm guitar driven, ska style with the odd ballad included. It sounds like several different vocalists are featured. I don't know if the Jamestown Sheiks were just a group of session musicians put together for this LP or if they did anything else but will add any info i receive. To my ear a few of the covers on this LP don't quite work while others work really well. An interesting oddity for beatles and/or ska fans/DJ's.
