Description
LEE MORGAN LPs
Click Image to Enlarge I'm offering Lee Morgan's double LP test pressing albums titled "The Procrastinator" manufactured by United Artists Records. Released in 1978 on UA's Blue Note label. These are unplayed records. #BNLA-582. In stereo. In an all black jacket and white sleeves. The songs are listed on each sleeve with typed pages taped to them. I've owned this since it came out and have never played it. Now it's time to thin out my collection. I worked in the entertainment business here in Hollywood and got a lot of records for free. Sometimes duplicates. These are in mint condition. Sleeves and jacket are in very good condition. Combine auctions and save on shipping. This is a close-up of one album. Pardon my hand's shadow at the bottom. From Wikipedia:Edward Lee Morgan (July 10, 1938 – February 19, 1972) was an American jazz trumpeter. Known mainly as one of the key hard bop musicians of the 1960s, Morgan came to prominence in his late teens, recording on John Coltrane's Blue Train (1957) and with the band of drummer Art Blakey before launching a solo career. His song "The Sidewinder" became a surprise crossover hit on the pop and R&B charts in 1964, while Morgan's recordings found him touching on other styles of music as his artistry matured. Morgan continued to work prolifically as both a leader and a sideman with the likes of Hank Mobley and Wayne Shorter, becoming, in the words of critic Steve Huey, " cornerstone of the Blue Note label roster". Morgan's career was cut short at the age of 33, when his longtime girlfriend shot him at Slug's Saloon, NYC, where he died of his injuries. "The Procrastinator" is an album by jazz trumpeter Lee Morgan released posthumously on the Blue Note label, featuring performances by Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Hutcherson, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Billy Higgins. It was originally issued in 1978 as a double LP (“Jazz Classics Series”, BNLA-582) featuring tracks recorded in three different sessions: July 1967, September 1969 and October 1969. Here are the songs on this album: Someone has uploaded the title song to YouTube if you want to give it a listen before purchasing. While there you'll see many of the songs from these 2 albums listed in the right. The Procrastinator
