This is not a reissue or counterfeit – this is the REAL thing and I will only accept bids from serious bidders – if you have any doubts about the authentic of this record I strongly advise you to not participate in the bidding. Please view the detailed pictures of this extremely rare record. Purchased many years ago by an atlantic executive employee.
All grading strickly according to Record Collector’s grading scale. I feel that when grading it is my true belief not to overgrade or by any way exaggerate the condition and I offer a 100% money back guarantee if not satisfied with the quality stated in description. Never accept overgraded records – period. Please read and exam the uploaded pictures carefully before placing your bid. Ask questions before since I will not accept any returns based on misunderstandings.
GRADING VISUALLY:
the vinyl is of the thicker and heavier type that is accurate with the early true first us pressings. Both sides have a nice luster to the surface but there are hairlines present on both sides. no deep scratches, it has been played but still in respectable condition. I have listened to all the tracks both in high end headphones and on a high end stereo set up with vg++ to ex (maybe even better) playback quality, much thanks to the supreme Robert Ludwig cut that really suits todays high fidelity sound set ups. I am happy and confident to grade the record vg++ to ex 7.5 – 8.0/10.0
etchings in run out groove
side 1: st-a-691671 –a-lw-wat-rl
side 2: st-a-691672-a-lw-at-rl-ssw (narrow run out space)
LABELS:
there are two white labels placed upon each other with the word testpressing seen through the outer atlantic company label. All titles are typed and not printed as common with company test labels. What looks like the word ‘ok’ can be seen as well on side 2 through the outer label. The test pressing stamp is more visable on side 1 and is only faintly seen on side 2. Both labels show wear and smudge and is documented on various led zeppelin collector sites as well as special issues released by uk magazine record collector. The labels are slightly misplaced which is common for company testpressings. There are two ridges that is consistent with 1st us pressings and the labels show moderate spindle trails however there’s a slight tear around the spindle hole on side 1. Please exam the close up pictures. I grade both labels as solid very good 6.0/10.0
SLEEVE:
depending on who you ask or where you seek information it is said that these tp’s came in either a white cardboard sleeves or in regular stock sleeves. This came into my possession with the first thick cardboard type of gatefold sleeve. It is in decent condition with wear to edges but no ring wear. There’s a small split to lower edge. No stickers or writing. Graded a solid vg+ 7.0/10.0
Even though this is not obviously a top copy I must stress that the record plays fine without any major sound detoration such as skips or major pops but loud and powerful with just minor tics. Run ins and outs sounds surprisingly silent and as stated it plays better than it looks. However I am confident that you will NEVER ever find another copy here on ebay. These testpressings are as rare as a hen in a raccoons den – consider your bid careful and bid early. Good luck.
