LED ZEPPELIN

“LED ZEPPELIN” or “FIRST” or “I”

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original very first MONO PROMOTIONAL press released by Atlantic Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1970 by Discos Philips (Philips Records), licensed from Atlantic Records, USA, catalog number 33-216, with hand etched matrix numbers ST-A-681461-B in Side 1 and ST-A-681462-B in Side 2, with traditional red/black Atlantic Records labels of the period. Yes, Sirs, WHAT A FIND!!! Another extremely rare Chilean very first press of a great classic rock album!!! WOW!!!

“Led Zeppelin” is the debut album by Led Zeppelin, it was originally released on Atlantic Records in January 1969 in USA and in March 1969 in the UK, and we had to wait until 1970 to see this legendary rock album released here in Chile and like usual those years the cover in Chile is UNIQUE, made of a very thin cardboard or thick paper folded in the middle, faking a gatefold cover, so 3 sides are open and kept together for an outer plastic bag. Front cover keeps strictly the original US artwork, with the only difference that in Chile the top and mouth edges were “cut” immediately above the words “Led Zeppelin” at top left corner and “Stereo” at top right corner. Back cover is totally different, it has the name of the band, the names of the members, the tracklist written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters and play time of each song, with a small black and white picture of the band. In labels it’s the name of the band at top and the tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about license from Atlantic Records, USA, “SD 8216”. If you know this very first Chilean press of this debut album by Led Zeppelin, sure you will know that name of the band is misspelled “LED SEPPELIN” in labels!!! It’s almost impossible to know the number of copies released with this amazing error but it’s a very limited number, only about 300-500. But it’s not the only error you can see. In cover and even in the matrix numbers, with the prefix “ST”, it’s informed the record is Stereo, but in both labels, it’s also clearly informed the record is “Mono” and the record plays in Mono!!! And more, this record has more errors, the song “You Shook Me”, correctly translated in the label, is misspelled “You SHOOCK Me” in back cover!!! The play time of “Black Mountain Side” is informed in back cover “3:06” minutes, but it’s only 2:06 minutes and the play time of “How Many More Times” is informed, like in original US and UK issues, “3:30” minutes but it really plays for 8:30 minutes!!! Maybe you know it's said Jimmy Page listed this song 3:30 minutes on the record cover and labels to trick the radio stations into playing the song. And if you think that’s all about this record, please check the cover, it’s PROMO (EMBOSSED) STAMPED, in front cover, at top right corner, it’s embossed “DISCO PROMOCIONAL – PROHIBIDA SU VENTA” (Promotional Record – Sale Forbidden)!!! This record is already rare and not many copies have surfaced but how many Promo-stamped copies have you seen before? Yes, this is a real CHILEAN PROMO-STAMPED COPY, until now the only Promo copy which has surfaced, NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!! So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE and ULTRA LIMITED PRESS of this classic and legendary debut album by Led Zeppelin, with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER DESIGN, UNIQUE ERRORS, PROMO EMBOSSED and with MONO SOUND!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Led Zeppelin and Hard/Progressive rock!!! The ONLY PROMO COPY which has surfaced!!! Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from this side of the world!!!

The cover is in nice EX- or EX condition, clean and clear, complete, with some wear in all edges, more evident in the mouth, with some creases and little rips, evident age browning, more evident in the mouth edge and very faint blemishes. The record is in nice VG- or VG condition, glossy and clean, with loads and loads of scuffs, soft hairlines and light scratches of all sizes and in all directions, one of them in the third song of Side 1 seems to be deep, but amazingly it doesn’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in absolute EX+ or NM- condition, clear and clean, with only minimal spindle hole wear and very faint blemishes almost impossible to see at first sight. The sound is in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with soft constant crackles and some occasional light clicks and pops here and there, which of course don’t cause any distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, maybe this record is not for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but it keeps a nice look, almost immaculate labels and still a great sound quality after about 54 years and many plays, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this UNIQUE PROMOTIONAL Chilean press, A MUST TO HAVE no matter the condition!!! And keep in mind this is the very first Chilean press of Led Zeppelin, misspelled “LED SEPPELIN”, with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER DESIGN, UNIQUE ERRORS, MONO SOUND and PROMOTIONAL!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT TO READ

  • NO RETURNS ACCEPTED.
  • We are not responsible for the damages in transit, when the parcel is given to the postal service, then the care of the parcel and delivery time is out of my control.

  • IF YOU BUY THIS RECORD, YOU ARE ACCEPTING THESE CONDITIONS, SO WE HOPE AND TRUST YOU WILL BE SERIOUS AND HONOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF THESE CONDITIONS.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (September 2024)

Because the UK’s tax authority, Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC), requires eBay collect VAT information from sellers with UK customers, I’ve been informed that I need to have a “valid UK VAT number on file” to sell to UK customers. As I live in Chile and all my items are shipped from Chile, I don’t have an “UK VAT number”, so I’m sorry to inform that I’M FORCED TO EXCLUDE THE UK FROM MY WORLDWIDE SHIPPING POLICY. If you live in the UK and you’d like to bid/buy some of my records, please contact me, I’m sure we could find some solution.

If you have some doubt or question, feel free to contact us, we will be glad to answer all that you want to know about this ítem.
