Description
Before I start I would like to say that I have endeavoured to be as critical and as honest as I can with my description below. I am fully aware of how collectable this album is and despite seeing many copies sell for a lot of money on ebay, I have not seen or held those albums in my own hands to compare what some people regard as acceptable for a 40 year old vinyl album to be graded as 'MINT'. I will not call a second hand album which has been played on a deck 'mint' under any circumstances.
The album cover is genuinely the best I have seen. No stickers, graffiti, rips, tears and very clean on both sides with no scuffing or scratches. The open edges are clean crisp and the corners are all square. A very minor and barely noticeable crease line at the nose of the Zeppelin can just be seen if you hold the album cover at the right angle in bright light, caused naturally by the vinyl sitting inside. The spine is not chaffed and is fully readable, tiny natural age crease line. I have tried to show in the pictures how clean this cover is and how much natural shine it still has.
Inner sleeve is the original with the 'plastic bags can be dangerous' warning along with the important 'made in England'.
The Vinyl itself is importantly true and flat, the Red & Plum labels are flawless on both sides, no grime, marks or graffiti. They are the best that I have seen on a superhype label showing no bumps or lumps. I have played both sides once on my stereo when I aquired the album and they play perfectly. This album played loud makes me wonder why we ever jumped over to C.D. They do not compare with the depth of sound, warmth and shear strength of music which this 1st press heavy vinyl produces. Minimal background noise even on the dead wax. No scratches pops skips and jumps. No spindle wear to show, hairline paper marks which will be expected by anyone on vinyl. The vinyl still has an incredible natural deep shine and gloss. If I had to grade the vinyl it would be at least Ex+. Only because it has some hairlines and has been on a deck. Show me one with no hairlines or unplayed and I will remortgage my house to buy it. I have looked for 30 years for that one!
Superhype label credit of course, matrix 588171 A//1 & 588171 B//1
I can say no more. PLEASE ask me any questions you may have if I have missed anything, this is an awesome album and I take its auction seriously.
A VERY SERIOUS COLLECTORS ALBUM OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY.
I am not a professional record collector but over the years have accumulated some fantastic vinyl. My records are cared for and only ever played on my Pro-Ject 2xperience deck with an Ortofon Rondo stylus through a Bi-Amped Bi-Wired Arcam stereo. I have decided to sell some of my First pressing A1 records which will include Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix so watch this space for some RARE vinyl. My Led Zeppelin collection is extensive including the Turquoise First Album in collectable condition coming soon!! Enquiries are welcome.
All of my collectable records have a reserve on them, sorry, but I will not take the chance of 'merely' giving them away. They have a minimum value to me and would also to any serious buyers.
Happy bidding and good luck.
