Description
"LED ZEPPELIN" 1969 LP First UK Pressing Turquoise Lettering - VERY RARE
This is an original first-issue copy of Led Zeppelin 1 which I have owned since new. Serial number 588171.
SALES TO THE UK ONLY PLEASE. The item will be posted 'Royal Mail Special Delivery'.
MATRIX NUMBERS
Stamped Matrix numbers on the run-off area suggest that this is one of the very first pressings of this LP. Later pressings have the '8' crossed out.
Side One: 588171 A//1 1 2 1 (?) with no crossing out.
Side Two: 588171 B//1 1S (?) with no crossing out.
LABELS
It has orange and plum labels both sides.
On side 1:
1, 2, 4. Superhype Music
3. Jewel Music
The original owner's name written in biro on the central white band.
On side 2:
1, 2, 3, 5. Superhype Music
4. Jewel Music
INNER SLEEVE
The inner sleeve has the 'PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS' lettering and British Patent numbers 800513 and 973939. However, I can't guarantee that this particular sleeve was the one that came with the record.
JACKET
The jacket by MacNeill Press Ltd is in intact condition and has turquoise LED ZEPPELIN lettering and Atlantic logo. There is some wear around the edges and a little creasing, and a little lifting of the lamination - but otherwise the lamination is complete. The spine is in good condition. The original owner's name written in red pen top-right on the back of the cover.
THE RECORD
The record is unwarped and sits flat on the turntable. This LP has been played, and inevitably for a record over 40 years old, there are surface marks and some surface noise when playing. Generally these don't affect the playing too much - the music is after all meant to be played loud! The most serious defect are some scratches on 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You' - these are clearly audible but the record plays through them with no jumps.
