LE FORTE FOUR-Bikini Tennis Shoes LP (1975, private) Record: VG Cover: VG+ The vinyl is very good, flawed but acceptable - numerous scuffs /surface scratches, plus a series of light scratches made by lightweight tonearm across most of side1. Plays very well with moderate surface noise throughout, close to VG+ at times but the conservative/play grade is VG. All 200 copies were pressed on poor quality vinyl, similar to a '50s budget label LP, it's near impossible to find in any condition. This is actually better than the last copy that surfaced and sold for $150, according to that seller. Based on this I've set a low reserve. "Mint" value for this LP is $350-$400. The homemade cover is VG+ basically 2 glossy slicks (like photographic prints) pasted on to a sturdy generic cover, quite the work of art. A bit of ringwear on the front and sticker residue upper right corner. Back cover is a near identical slick and looks sharper with faint ringwear, some very small brownish glue marks and white areas where glue has gone through the slick. The actual generic cover has held up well, spine intact, a half inch split in the center of the bottom seam, 2 smaller starting splits at the opening, edgewear and some discoloration on edges from age. Labels and #'d/signed insert are EX, this one is number 71 out of 200 copies (see photos.) The music is great and surprisingly listenable improv/noise, truly unique & weird - up there with the Residents, Smegma, early Destroy All Monsters and '70s outsider classics like Moolah, Wazoo & Mark Tucker-Bat Stew LP.
