Description

This is Blue Note Records BLP 4123,Kenny Burrell Midnight Blue, a blue and white, microgroove, New York USA label,  mono issue of this classic record with RVG and the ear (p) mark stamped in the dead wax. The record is in VG+(+) condition, (a very strong VG+),  showing some light marks on both sides but playing quietly. There is some light background clicking audible for a few seconds on track 2 both sides. These are minor issues and do not interfere with the enjoyment of the record. This is still a beautiful sounding copy. The cover, with the 43 West 61st St., New York 23, address on the back, has a 1' split on the bottom seam (see photo 6) and some minor loss on the seams, but is otherwise excellent and intact.  The labels show light spindle marks. An original thumbnail inner sleeve is included. The record was cleaned on a VPI 17 and played on a Linn Sondek LP12 in mono mode. This is an excellent collector's grade copy of this beautiful mono Blue Note issue*. Please check our other listings as we discount shipping for multiple wins. Thanks for looking.
*Please note: There are copies of 4123 that have a deep groove label. Along with a lot of collectors and dealers, I am of the belief that after 4060 a deep groove is not necessary to determine whether a record is an original issue (see Cohen p77) but I will let the buyer decide.
