Original mono pressing with 767 Lexington Ave address on center label on both sides, flat edge, deep groove and RVG and "ear" in dead wax. No registry mark. Classic Andy Warhol cover art. Cover has thin spine and Kakubushi frames but 47 West 63rd St., New York 23 address at bottom of back cover. This was the transitional record as 1544 (Hank Mobley All Stars) is the first original 47 West 63rd release. The Blue Note catalog listing at the bottom of the back cover only goes up to 1546. Record plays overall beautifully and the sound is clear with no groove distortion. There is a half inch scratch on the first track on side one and several more light marks on the side. There are about a dozen repetitive clicks on the first track and random occasional clicks on the remainder of the side and 4 repetitive clicks near the end of the last track. Side 2 has a light scratch across the entire side and a few light scuffs. The first track on side 2 has two areas with 8 to 12 repetitive clicks and a few random clicks. The second track has 2 clicks and one pop. The remainder of the side plays very cleanly with only a couple occasional light random light clicks until the end of the last track where there are 4 repetitive light clicks. The cover has a four inch split on the bottom seam at the open end, original price sticker in the top left corner of the back cover and very light shelf wear.

The record is made up of 5 different sessions and groups including one solo guitar track. The musicians are Kenny Dorham on trumpet, J. R. Monterose or Frank Foster on tenor sax, Tommy Flanagan or Bobby Timmons on piano, Oscar Pettiford, Sam Jones or Paul Chambers on bass and Kenny Clarke, Shadow Wilson of Arthur Edgehill on drums. Candido plays congas on one track.

We do not play grade MOST of our records so we guarantee our visual grading with a money back guarantee that includes shipping. If we do play grade a record, we will let you know about any noise in detail in our description. Generally, we do not list records below EX- condition unless it is exceptionally rare. We do not recommend audiophiles bid on records in less than NM- condition. Our grading standard is as follows.

Mint is only used for sealed records or records that we are certain have never been played.

Near Mint or NM is for the most part as good as it gets! No marks and will play clean with no noise unless inherent in the pressing.

EX+ Will generally have one or two minor flaws, but will overall be near mint.

EX or Excellent will have light surface marks and some background noise.

EX- Overall an Excellent copy with light surface marks, but with something that distracts, like a small scratch that makes a few pops.

VG+ Consistent background noise, pops but should not skip or stick. Still a playable copy.

VG has many problems. Noise will dominate. May have quite a few pops and possibly a skip.

VG- Will likely have a skip or two and will be very noisy.

G = Our lowest grade and is actually a poor record.
