Texas rapper and singer-songwriter Kevin Abstract is back with more of his alternative sounds on Blush, a new album that finds him move beyond BROCKHAMPTON and his 2023 alt-rock Blanket. This project embraces a technicolour palette of collaborators, including Dominic Fike, Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, Quadeca and Truly Young. Tracks shift effortlessly from the breezy, West Coast-tinged '97 Jag' to the cyber-club chaos of 'Nola' and DERBY's Alex G-inspired 'I Wasn't There' and largely prioritises artistry over precision, which highlights Abstract's post-genre instincts well. Expansive soundscapes make this a kaleidoscopic, emotionally rich world full of innovation.
