*Vinylman* It's a treat to be able to offer up for auction such a great lp and a truly rare one. The only trouble with playing them through to double-check condition, is the doubts you end up with about parting with it ! Anyway, here we have the second volume of Jutta Hipp's Hickory House session, Blue Note BLP 1516. This is the original deep groove 161 Lexington Ave NYC recording, with RVG and the ear logo in the dead wax, thick vinyl flat edged. The cover states 767 Lexington Ave, New York 21. So to condition. The cover, as you'll see from the photos below, has been taped top and side. The bottom seam is untaped, and has around half an inch split from the open edge. The rest of the front cover is pretty clean, uncreased etc. The rear cover shows more evidence of old tape on the top seam, and a name in ink top right which looks to have been tippexed at some point. Otherwise it has some light overall soiling. The vinyl itself is in better condition. There are very few spindle marks and I'm sure the lp has been only lightly played, it still sounds crisp and bright. The a-side does have a couple of very light marks, and two marks of more note. The first is towards the end of track one, and causes about four clicks. It's the worst mark, of around an inch, but it's not deep enough to feel and only affects the sound briefly. The other is on the forth track, less heavy and less audible but can be heard. Other than those, there is some very light background occasionally, but certainly no persistent hiss or crackle from overplaying or bad needles. The b-side is much cleaner, with absolutely no marks that are audible and only a few very superficial surface scuffs. In summary, there are several marks, all but two of which are very superficial, but the general condition of the vinyl is very good. The lp is a pleasure to listen to and as I'm sure you're aware is extremely hard to find, fetching up to four figures when mint.
