GRADING DEFINITIONS
Grading definitions are purely subjective, and very widely from ear to ear. The system on which a record is played back on will make a huge difference! A variety of systems are in place for grading 78s - I use the one listed below.  I try to be conservative in my grading, and have also listed the system I used to grade these records on.

M (78)  Unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).
NM (78) "Like New" condition.  No scratches, scuffs.  Labels in great shape.  Basically a new record, with little or no play.
E (78)  Very shiny, near new looking, with very slight signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.
E- (78)  Still shiny but without the lustre of a new record, few light scratches.
VG/VG+ (78)  An better-than average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.
V/V+ (78)  Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible with music.
V- (78)  Quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches below music level. Generally a 78 of this grade will have a "rough start" from dozens of years of needle drops.
G (78) Quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
G- (78)  Most of music remains audible over surface noise, but listening now uncomfortable.
P (78) Unplayable.
