Rare, original French pressing of the Jo Jones 2-record oral history/instruction set "The Drums" on Jazz Odyssey 008. The records are in mint condition and appear to be unplayed. The laminated gatefold jacket has a 12-page booklet of photos and narrative in English and French (this booklet was omitted from later pressing) and is in very close to new condition - clean and bright throughout - with sharp corners.
This is an extremely important recorded document: not only do you hear Jo Jones talking about his musical life and the people he worked with, but he also gives examples of drumming technique and how other drummers set up their drum kit and played, e.g. Baby Dodds, Gene Krupa, Sid Catlett, Sonny Greer, etc. There is one track at the end where Jones is accompanied by Willie The Lion Smith.
