Description

Jimmy Page, unreleased, one-sided acetate, from 1965. The track is called "Trying Too Hard" by Jon and Jimmy. Having met Jimmy Page at a Yardbirds reunion gig in the 100 Club in Oxford Street, London, in 1996, I asked him about this item. He said that the "Jon" referred to on the label did not exist due to contractual reasons at the time. The actual vocalists are Kenny and Deny, who's record, "Try To Forget Me / Little Surfer Girl" Decca F12138, Jimmy produced and played on both sides, and also wrote the B side. This acetate came from that recording session but he never went any further with it. The acetate comes in it's original cardboard envelope, with " TO GO TO JIMMY, ISS PRESSINGS" written on the front. This item has been fully documented in Record Collector Magazine in the "Digging For Gold" section, June issue, 1995. No.190, on page 138. In 1990 I took it to Bonhams Auctioneers in London where it was valued at £1000+. I was offered £600 for it in 1992 but did not want to sell at the time as I was still a Led Zeppelin collector. This is the first item of my Led Zeppelin collection that I have put up for sale. The disc plays very well and there are no jumps. There are some light surface scratches which is quite normal for an acetate of this age. The condition is VG++ There is a reserve on this item.
